Hello!
I am Emmi, and I am
from Redding, California (which, in my defense, is not actually the “hick town”
that most assume it to be); it’s about an eight hour car ride north of Santa
Barbara. I am a first year bio major with the intent to progress into
marine/aquatic bio. My plan is to eventually live on the ocean and conduct my
own research (as to what it’s specifically about, I have yet to decide). I absolutely
love nature and hiking, camping, longboarding, and pretty much anything else
that allows me to spend time outside. I am a huge NBA fan, particularly when it
comes to the Celtics and more recently, the Warriors (I won’t even try to deny
the bandwagon claims; they’re incredibly difficult not to like). I played volleyball
and basketball in high school, and I participate in pick-up games whenever I get
the chance at the Rec Cen! I work at a daycare back home, and I miss my kiddos
almost as much as I miss my wonderful family. My sister, in particular, is my
best friend and also the most magnificent person I know.
Over Spring Break, I went on a road trip to the Columbia
River, which constitutes the northern border of Oregon, and was able to visit a
grand total of 19 beautiful waterfalls in a three-day time period. I love
music, and I’ve been into the mellow, vibe-y sounds of James Blake lately, but I’m
also just as big of a fan of Childish Gambino, Jack Johnson, The Weeknd, J.
Cole, and without question, the timeless 2000s R&B. I very rarely watch
TV/movies, and quite often, I receive very disappointed responses when asked if
I’ve seen “this movie” or “that series on Netflix.”
Anyway, yes, Emmi is my full first name; I am whole-heartedly
a fruit fanatic, and I actually tend to enjoy writing classes more than most, I believe.
That said, what better way to spend four hours a week of spring quarter than in
Writing 2?
